If You're Free, Prove It!

Welcome, Relentless Students, to another daily Devo. We are on day 20 of our 30-day Devo. Our practice is currently serving those around us, at home or neighbors.

Today's verse is found in Galatians 5:13-14 which says,

"For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. For the whole law is fulfilled in one word: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.'"

It's interesting that we would backtrack to a verse done on day 7. But after careful consideration, I see why. The first time we visited this verse we were supposed to get outside. This time we are supposed to serve. When we talked about this verse last time we talked about how freedom isn't free but comes at the cost of devoting our lives to God. So, let's shift gears a bit.

We are free! That's what the above is telling all us believers. So, what are you doing with your freedom? Are you using it as an excuse to keep living in your old ways, bound by sin and claiming to be free or are you standing up and living out your freedom? Your freedom opens the door for you to truly live out "...love your neighbor as yourself." When we are free, we have been released from the guilt and shame of our past sins. Thus, we can live in confidence and love ourselves as God loves us. And when we do that, we can turn around and spread that love to others.

When we are free the best way to prove it is to love others; to act. We can't just sit down and say we are free, it has to be shown through what we do. So, today we are keeping it short and instead, challenging you to get out there.

Our challenge today is to get out and serve. The weather is actually nice enough to do something so take time today and show you're free by serving those around you. Bring encouragement to your community, while remaining 6-feet apart!

Our prayer today,

God, thank you for setting us free. Thank you for being a God who believes in freedom! May we live out our freedom through love. May we show love to all those around us even now. May we feel inspired by you to do good through you. God, we love you and we feel your love in the freedom you offer. We pray this in Your Son's name, Amen.
