The Peace of God

Hey Relentless Students! We are on day 15 which means we are officially halfway through our 30-day Devo. We are continuing the practice of guided prayer so below the passage you will find the podcast for today's guided prayer!

Today's passage is Philippians 4:4-9 which says,

"Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice. Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you."

Where is your mind currently? Are you focused on the affairs of the world with corona and all the negativity surrounding it? Or are you taking this time to focus on God? Most of us (if answering honestly) are much more focused on corona or trying to distract with movies, music, hobbies, etc. We aren't using this newfound free time to grow in a relationship with God.

The thing is when we don't focus on God then the peace of God mentioned above will escape us. The idea is keeping our minds on Him and not on all the negativity surrounding us. So, to help us begin that process do the guided prayer and continue setting aside time for God each and every day.

Your challenge for today is to follow along with the guided prayer, journal about your conversation with God, and determine a daily time for you to engage with God consistently.

Our prayer today,

Lord, we thank You for this day. You are good, perfect, and holy. Your ways are true, while ours fall short. We pray that You would guide us to your ways and keep our minds on what is good, pure, and holy. Thank You for loving us in the way You do! We love you God and we pray this all in Your Son's name, Amen.
